Was this previously Overnewton Castle?
Yes. The property was historically known as Overnewton Castle and remains an important heritage estate with significant architectural and cultural value. The vision for Srila Prabhupada Castle seeks to respectfully preserve and build upon this legacy while introducing a new cultural chapter for the property.
Why is the castle now called Srila Prabhupada Castle?
The castle draws inspiration from the teachings and values of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, whose message emphasised community, compassion, conscious living, hospitality, learning, and cultural engagement. The new name reflects the vision to develop the estate as a place of culture, connection, reflection, and celebration.
Is the castle still a venue for weddings and events?
Yes. The castle will continue to host weddings, receptions, celebrations, retreats, conferences, and community events as part of its evolving identity as a living heritage estate.
Will the heritage of the castle be preserved?
Yes. Preserving the beauty, atmosphere, and historical significance of the estate remains an important part of the long-term vision for the property.
Can anyone visit the castle?
Yes. The vision for Srila Prabhupada Castle is to create a welcoming environment open to people from all backgrounds through events, cultural experiences, retreats, celebrations, and community gatherings.
Will accommodation be available?
Yes. The long-term vision includes developing hospitality and retreat experiences that allow visitors to enjoy the atmosphere and heritage of the estate more fully.
